Project Spotlight: Artefact Architecture

Artefact, Inc. was the architect of record and interior designer for Bar Torino, a pizzeria and wine shop in downtown Easton, PA, owned and operated by Marc Devlin. The restaurant is located in the commercial storefront a newly constructed 60-unit mixed use apartment building, The Seville, constructed by Peron Development.

The design team for Bar Torino embraced a pared-back concept that would harmonize with the historic character of downtown Easton and echo the carefully edited food and drink menu. From the outset, the restaurant's layout was guided the by Devlin's vision, which centered a rotating Pavesi pizza oven that was custom designed for the eatery in New York. This focal point allows patrons to witness the creation of artisan fare and imbues the environment with inviting warmth.

Materials that would infuse classic elegance into the restaurant's modern design were selected to complete the interior. Urban Coast Tile's product Westside Cotto Brick Matte Porcelain Tile stood out as the perfect choice for the exterior of the restaurant's bars. Tiled in an attractive herringbone pattern, the Westside complements other selections used throughout the restaurant, including Carrara marble, oak, and polished concrete. These materials were chosen with the knowledge that they would patina over time, just as the restaurant would age comfortably into the neighborhood.
